Careers Fair

Yesterday, we welcomed nearly 30 local colleges, universities and businesses into school for our annual careers fair.   All year groups, from Y7 to Y11 were invited to the careers fair.  This year, it was also good to see more parents take up the invitation to attend.  This is always a highly successful event with evaluations informing us of how useful students find the opportunity and how it has inspired them in different ways.  Some learn about careers and opportunities they haven’t heard about before, others value talking to the visitors about entry requirements, application processes, the content of courses or about job roles. We were particularly pleased to see real variety, catering for different students interests and ambition.  Our careers advisor, Mrs Matto, was able to get a higher number of visitors attending with the event growing each year.  I am particularly pleased with the support of staff, as I believe it is the preparatory work completed with students that really ensures they get most out of it.  In tutor time and in PSHE lessons, staff have supported students to consider who they may visit and what questions they will ask so that they make the most of it.  Our visitors gave feedback about the politeness and preparedness of our students.  An excellent day!
