Holocaust Memorial Day

27 January is the day Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, was liberated. Our tutors have been sharing a presentation with all students this week to raise awareness and to promote respect and tolerance.

‘The theme for the 2024 memorial day is ‘The Fragility of Freedom’ as freedom is a human right but one of the first things taken away by genocide and tyranny.’

Holocaust Memorial Day is a time when we seek to learn the lessons of the past and recognise that genocide does not just take place on its own – it is a steady process which can begin if discrimination, racism and hatred are not checked and prevented.
