Silver Co-Production Award

Bournville School Leads the Way in Co-Production Excellence

Bournville School is proud to announce its recent achievement of the prestigious Silver Co-Production Award, granted by Birmingham Local Authority. This recognition marks a significant milestone—not only for the school itself but for the wider educational community—as Bournville becomes the first secondary school in Birmingham to receive this honour.

This award is a powerful testament to Bournville’s unwavering commitment to collaborative practice, where the voices of parents, students, community members, and external agencies are actively engaged in shaping the educational experience. Co-production, a concept rooted in educational research and inclusive practice, emphasises shared decision-making and mutual respect between schools and their stakeholders. According to studies on participatory education, such approaches foster stronger relationships, increase trust, and lead to more sustainable improvements in student outcomes.

At Bournville, this philosophy is not just theoretical—it is embedded in everyday practice. From tailoring support to meet individual student needs to implementing systemic changes that benefit the entire school community, co-production is driving transformational progress. The impact is clear: significant improvements in student behaviour, attendance, and academic achievement are being seen across the board.

Richard Archbold (SENDCO) said, “This award is more than a badge of honour—it’s a reflection of the culture we’ve built here. Everyone has a voice, and every voice matters. That’s what makes Bournville special.”

As Bournville continues to excel, the school stands as a beacon of innovation and inclusivity. It is indeed an exciting time to be part of the Bournville community, where positive change is not only happening—it’s being co-created.
