To finish the half term, Bournville School hosted its first Culture Day, with pupils in all year groups invited to participate in wearing traditional dress, enjoy lessons related to culture and learn and try Bhangra dance! The Academy food team and canteen staff also created a special culture day menu in the restaurant.
Culture Day was organised as a result of student voice, with our children wanting to celebrate how diverse we are as a school. Did you know that we have children from over 50 different countries?!?!
Staff and pupils demonstrated mutual respect and tolerance of other faiths and beliefs, which is one of the fundamental British values. It was a fantastic day of learning, trying new activities, tasting different types of foods and focusing on the importance of diversity, tolerance and respect for all.
Many staff and students arrived to school in cultural dress, enjoying the celebration of their own culture as well as learning about others. Take a look at the photos below:
