Learning in Y1 & Y2

Exciting to see what Year 1 and 2 are learning…

Outside Learning (Science):
This week, the children took part in an exciting science experiment while learning outdoors. They planted seeds and placed them in different conditions to explore what plants need to grow. Some seeds were given both light and water, some had no water, and others were kept without light. Over the coming weeks, we will observe and compare how each set of seeds develops. The children are already curious to see the results!

Chocolate Cake Discussion (RE):
In Religious Education, we explored the idea of fairness through a thoughtful activity. The children were asked if they would be willing to cut the first slice of a chocolate cake, knowing they would not get to choose which piece they received. It was wonderful to see that all the children chose to act fairly, showing kindness and consideration without hesitation.

Hands and Safety (PSHE):
In PSHE, we focused on the importance of touch and personal boundaries. The children discussed appropriate and inappropriate touch, learned about using kind hands, and identified trusted adults they can turn to if they feel unsafe. This was an important and meaningful conversation that encouraged awareness and respect.

We are proud of the children’s enthusiasm, kindness, and thoughtful participation across all areas of learning this week!
