Getting Ready for September

The summer holidays are nearly over – and we are getting ready to welcome everyone back to Bournville School!

As we prepare for the new academic year, there are a few simple things families can do now to make the return to school as smooth as possible.

Over the next few days, we recommend:

  • Getting back into a school routine – gradually move bedtimes and wake-up times earlier.
  • Checking uniform – make sure everything is clean, correct and ready for the first day.
  • Packing school bags – check that students have all the essential equipment they need.
  • Checking travel arrangements – make sure everyone knows their route and arrival time.
  • Talking about the year ahead – encourage children to think positively about seeing friends, meeting new teachers and the opportunities ahead.
  • Checking MCAS – make sure you have an active account so you don’t miss important school communications.

Our full September Return Information letter contains everything you need to know about return times, school-day timings, equipment, uniform and communication arrangements.

We know that returning to school can bring a mixture of excitement and nerves. A little preparation now can help make those first few mornings much calmer.

The Department for Education has also published a new Back-to-School Reset Guide, with practical advice for parents and carers on rebuilding routines, preparing for the return to school and supporting children who may feel anxious.

We look forward to welcoming all our students back on Thursday 3rd September and starting another successful year together!
