Subject Vision
We strive to ensure careers enrichment and engagement is more accessible for young people and, in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks, expect each one of our students, whatever their background, to make good education and training choices so they have the best possible chance of succeeding. Our aim is for all students to know about the different learning routes and qualifications available to them. We are ambitious for every pupil to engage with as many employers as possible throughout each year of school life, thereby challenging them to aspire to aim higher and look more broadly at options.
Aims
- Aware of different job sectors and growth areas – knowledge of the national and local labour markets to inform decision making and promote progression.
- Meaningful encounters with employers – aware of essential employability skills and ways in which these can be developed.
- Progression routes – open minded to opportunities and a clear understanding of Post-16 options. Further and Higher Education providers and opportunities open to them.
- Effective careers information, advice and guidance addressing the needs of every student.
Intent
The purpose of Careers Education in our all through school is to equip every student with the insight, confidence, and practical understanding they need to navigate an ever evolving world of work. Careers learning is woven through each phase of schooling, ensuring that students build a strong sense of aspiration and self-awareness from their earliest years through to post-16 pathways. Our careers curriculum is closely aligned with our wider personal development offer, enabling students to connect their strengths, values, and character traits with meaningful future opportunities. By embedding careers education across subjects, enrichment, and the wider life of the school, we take a truly holistic approach that empowers our students to make informed, ambitious choices and to thrive as capable, motivated contributors to modern society.
