Year 7-11 assessments and mock exams

Year 11 Mock exams

Our Year 11 students will begin to complete Mock assessments in all their examination subjects; these begin on Monday 9th November and will continue until Thursday 19th November. These assessments are vital, helping students understand the exam format, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and build confidence for the remainder of Year 11. Teachers will use the results to plan support and identify any gaps in learning. Students have already been given revision resources and should be using these daily to prepare. Attendance is essential, as the information from these assessments will help determine tiers of entry and groupings for their GCSE examinations. If a student misses an assessment, they will be required to complete it after school, and we appreciate your support with this.

Year 10 milestone assessments

Our Year 10 students will begin to complete milestone assessments in all their examination subjects; these will take place Wednesday 11th November and will continue until Friday 13th November. These milestone assessments happen throughout their GCSE and Btec courses, helping students understand the exam format, for teachers and students to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Teachers will then use the assessments results to plan support and identify any gaps in learning. Attendance is essential, as the information from these assessments will help determine future tiers of entry and refine groupings where possible throughout their courses.

 Assessment period – Years 7-9

Years 7–9 will begin their BASE assessments starting week commencing 2nd November.  On Wednesday 4th November through to Tuesday 10th November students will complete their Music, Spanish and English assessments during their lesson. The remaining subjects will take place on the 11th, 12th and 13th November. During this time, students will be assessed on the material they have been learning throughout the school year, also recalling material from the previous year. These assessments are designed to measure how well students have secured the knowledge and skills outlined in the curriculum. A detailed assessment schedule, including subjects and timings, will be shared with students in advance and will also be available on the school website. We encourage you to support your child by helping them review their study materials and maintain a regular revision routine.

To enable students to complete the assessments in a timely manner, the Academy will be adjusting the school day for all students in Years 7 to 11.

On Wednesday 11th, Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November, the day will begin at the normal time of 8.30am but will finish at a slightly earlier time of 2.15pm.

Excellent attendance is essential during this period. If your child is unwell or experiencing exceptional circumstances, please contact the school as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made. It is vital that these assessments are completed, your child may be required to attend sessions after school to catch up with any missing assessments.

Assessment results will be communicated to you when reports are completed and year 10s will have their milestone assessment results shared with them in school. We encourage you to provide your child with a supportive and nurturing environment during this period.
