The roadshow, supported by the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, visits over 420 schools across the UK every year. It provides an interactive experience for students, designed to inspire excitement in STEM subjects. The theme was ‘Who is in control’ and the roadshow explored how computing and engineering are inextricably linked and how they rely on each other. Topics included how mobile telecommunications work with a demonstration of how a signal travels from handset to mast and back again. Students also learned how Bluetooth and infrared communication works with an activity where students demonstrating elements of communication and controlling small robots called Sphero’s.
