On Tuesday 16th July over 400 Bournville students were taken to Abbey Stadium in Redditch to participate in Sports Day.
Despite a rainy start to the day, it was a fantastic success with students able to compete in a range of field and track events for medals and important points to try their very best to win the House cup. Would it be Austin, Boulton, Cadbury or Tolkien?
Students from years 7 to 10 competed in races from 100m all the way up to 800m, finishing with some exciting relays. Field events included long jump, high jump, javelin and shot put. Some excellent performances all round.
The day was made even better by the fantastic camaraderie and support from the crowd, with spectators supporting their houses superbly. Tutors had gone all out with flags, cheerleaders with pom poms and a wide range of posters and banners. It was great to see students supporting their team mates so enthusiastically.
We congratulate all those competitors who represented their houses so well, many left with medals, some students even earned several! Overall, there could be only one winner…. congratulations to Tolkien House; Sports Day champions 2024!
