We were really pleased to reopen Bournville School on Monday 30th September after being forced to close due to flash flooding that hit the local area last Thursday.
We were forced to end our Y11 parents’ evening early and close the school to students on Friday 27th September as water gushed through classrooms and hallways submerging much of the ground floor in Elgar as well as in Bronte building.
Staff were brilliant, rallying around to quickly evacuate the site calmly and safely. The site team particularly deserve a special mention for working tirelessly over the weekend to get the site up and running again with heating, humidifiers and even brooms when needed. We were very pleased to be able to open to students again and other than a faint smell of damp, there was little evidence of the flooding that had happened.
We will reschedule the Y11 parents evening to Thursday 17th October so that we get the opportunity to meet parents and discuss student progress.
The clean up work continues but other than that, business as normal at Bournville!
