Bournville All-Through School has been shortlisted for Community School of the Year at the Education Business Awards 2026, a national recognition that celebrates schools whose influence extends far beyond the classroom.
The nomination highlights Bournville’s deep commitment to serving its local community and strengthening the support available to families.
Recent initiatives include
- A student-led food bank drive, which saw pupils from across the primary and secondary campuses take on leadership roles to gather food for the B30 Foodbank
- The refurbishment of the school’s community room, now a welcoming space used for Parent Forums, SEND drop‑in mornings, workshops and events.
- Free uniform and bus pass schemes to break down financial barriers
Bournville’s nomination is a testament to the dedication of its staff, the enthusiasm of its students and the strength of its partnership with the community it proudly serves.
Bournville Principal Marie Rooney said she is “humbled” to be in the running.
“As a school being a key anchor in the community is central to us, so to be recognised for that is really humbling. It really is reassuring for the community to know that the school that serves them is being celebrated nationally.
The Education Business Awards celebrate excellence across more than twenty areas of school practice. Bournville’s shortlisting places the school among leading institutions nationwide that are redefining what it means to be a community-focused school.
This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Educating Yorkshire’s Matthew Burton on Thursday 26 March at Old Billingsgate, London, during the Education Business LIVE Conference and Exhibition.
