Year 1 and 2 Visit the Nature Centre

This half term has been full of exciting learning experiences for our Year 1 and 2 children, who have shown enthusiasm, curiosity, and determination across all areas of the curriculum.

In science, we launched our brand-new topic on plants. The children explored the different parts of a plant and began to understand what plants need to grow and stay healthy. They particularly enjoyed observing real plants up close and discussing how nature changes over time.

A true highlight of the half term was our visit to the Nature Centre. The trip provided a wonderful opportunity to bring learning to life, and the children were a credit to the school throughout the day. Their behaviour was exemplary, with members of the public even commenting on their kindness and excellent manners—making us all proud to be part of the Bournville family.

While exploring the centre, the children discovered fascinating facts about a variety of animals. Two particular favourites were the sloth, admired for its slow and gentle nature, and the bush dog, which sparked lots of curiosity and excitement. The experience inspired many thoughtful questions and lively discussions back in the classroom.

Overall, it has been a fantastic half term filled with growth, discovery, and memorable experiences. We look forward to continuing our learning journey together!
