Introduction

Helping pupils unlock their potential

The Hub is staffed by a qualified teacher of the Visually Impaired and specialist teaching assistants. It has extra facilities and equipment on site so that children can work in the appropriate medium (eg. Large print, Braille, tape or computer).

Pupils have the full benefit of a mainstream school. They are treated like all other children. They can have extra support in some of their lessons if needed. We have Learning Mentors for one to one emotional support.

The Hub provides an inclusive approach to the holistic care of young people, helping them to identify and overcome their barriers to learning.

The Hub Club provides activities for pupils before during and after school. On Wednesday afternoons pupils will be able to select from a range of activities including:- Life Skills, Ceramics, Spelling support, Reading Club, Digital Photography, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy and Outdoor Activities.

We have disabled access to The Hub and Disabled toilet facilities.

We offer a range of facilities that can be accessed by pupils, parents and staff. Personal Development workshops, anger management sessions, conflict resolution and stress management. We offer study support both before during and after the school day. We provide in class support for pupils with behavioural and emotional difficulties and specialist training for staff on a range of inclusion issues. We support the reintegration of pupils from long term absence. We have three experienced Learning Mentors who provide 1:1 support for pupils with a range of needs.

We have a Teaching Assistant specifically to support pupils with English as an Additional Language. New pupils to the school are inducted through The Hub and supported until they wish to work independently. We also have a large team of Teaching Assistants who support pupils with moderate and specific learning difficulties in lessons ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum. We run reading clubs and provide one to one support for pupils as and when necessary. We welcome the involvement of parents who are invited to regular meetings in order to discuss the progress of their child.
