All students
General Qualification students
What is a General Qualification student?
Students that the school places on the General Qualification pathway are those whose current attainment
shows that they are best suited to a vocational pathway after Year 11. In Year 10 and Year 11 they will
probably naturally choose a combination of GCSEs and vocational courses (BTECs). After this they are likely
to continue with vocational courses in the Sixth Form, such as Level 3 BTECs, or take similar courses at college,
or move onto an Apprenticeship or similar work-based learning.
English Baccalaureate students
What is an English Baccalaureate student?
Students on the English Baccalaureate are those that are likely to achieve good GCSE passes (C+) in a language, Additional
Science and Geography or History. They will also be expected to achieve C grades or higher in English and Maths.
English Baccalaureate students will likely go on to A levels though a significant number will choose vocational courses in
the Sixth Form or other post-16 institutions.
