The showcase is the highlight of the Gifted Students Programme year for most students. In the showcase, students were in mixed age groups and set a task to produce a 5 minute presentation to an audience of 200 parents, teachers and peers on the theme of "Bournville's Got Talent". The students were given the freedom to pursue any interests of their own and present in any way they liked. They were told that the competition would be judged by a selection of teachers and governors and that the winning team would win a prize of £150 plus their names would be engraved on the Shield.

The student groups were each allocated a member of staff to act as a mentor. They would help guide, create time for them to meet and help with resources. In most cases the students were enterprising enough to make their own time, plan to together and secure their own resources. In the weeks leading up to the event many students independently moved around school, reasearching, filming, editing and rehearsing as their competitive nature took hold.

The evening was very well supported by parents and peers and more than 200 people witnessed the first ever showcase ably compared by Mr Robinson. The standard throughout was remarkably high and many of the pieces of work produced are included below. Of course many were performance based too and those aspects cannot be reflected in the multimedia pieces attached below.
