Sixth Form: Student Support
All students receive an additional programme of care and support during their time in the sixth form.
Form Tutor: At the beginning of your course students will be assigned a Form Tutor, whose role is to
help and guide you through your sixth form career. Your tutor will always be on hand to help you assess
your progress, both personal and academic, and will be there to support you and give advice.
Tutorial Programme: The tutorial programme covers such areas as Learning about Life and Learning about
Learning. The aim of the programme is to provide support beyond the classroom and help students get the
most out of the courses. It also assists you to make informed choices on your career.
Monitoring progress: We have high expectations of our students and regularly review progress. This includes
the setting of academic targets, subject progress reviews, formal test and examinations, one to one interviews
and parental meetings. Increasingly students are monitoring their own progress, making use of UMS scores for
modules to set achievement targets and track their own performance.
Financial assistance: The Local Authority (through application), may also provide financial support through the
EMA to help students with their studies.
