Sport Relief 2012 Challenge Day
Thursday 22nd March 2012
On
22nd March 2012 Bournville School will be hosting a Challenge Day to support the national
Sport Relief event. During the day students will be involved in educational activities, different
from their normal timetable; many of which will involve learning through the theme of community
cohesion.
"By community cohesion we mean working towards a society in which:
- there is a common vision and sense of belonging by all communities.
- the diversity of people's backgrounds and circumstances is appreciated and valued.
- similar life opportunities are available to all.
- strong and positive relationships exist and continue to be developed in the workplace, in
schools and in the wider community."
Year 7 will be looking at Education around the world and creating a reference book.
Year 8 will be looking at the work of comic and sport relief on a local, national and global scale
and presenting their findings in an exciting and dynamic way.
Year 9 will be taking on a day of challenges all set to create a ethos of collaboration and teamwork,
working towards being members of a community.
Year 10 are working on a Key Skills Think big project.
Year 11 are working with an outside organisation called "Maximise your Potential" to help develop their
motivation to success.

At different times of the day all staff and students will participate in the Sport Mile – running
or walking the event. Students can choose to wear non uniform for the day, and their House colours
should be worn as part of their clothing and / or accessories – clothes need to be appropriate for
running or walking the Bournville Mile (including shoes – the mile route requires students to walk
on the school fields).
Students will be given Sponsor forms in advance and we are asking that they all try to raise at least
£5.00 each. Students who raise the most money in each year group will receive a prize.
Any form group which collectively manages to raise over
£100 will be awarded additional
"Sport Relief" Griffins.
