A Big thanks to all the shadowing groups
We hope that you have enjoyed shadowing the CILIP Carnegie & Kate Greenway Medals this year and we would like to say a big thank you for being involved with the scheme and helping to make shadowing in 2006 such a success.
You are one of 3,000 groups across the country and overseas who registered to take part in the scheme. Groups have posted an amazing 14,000+ book reviews on the website (and we're still counting!). Well done to everyone who posted a review. The postroom will remain live for at least the next couple of months, for those who haven't had a chance so far.
We would love to hear any feedback you have about shadowing, please send comments to:

CILIP Carnegie Medal
Although all five books on the shortlist were outstanding in their own way, Tamar was the unanimous winner. The judges really admired the very strong narrative of both the war time story, and the modern journey undertaken by young Tamar, which are interwoven so meticulously and with such skill, by a writer truly in control of his plot. The characterisation is brilliant - these are people who stay in the mind long after the book is finished,a nd no one is entirely good or entirely evil, but all shades in between. Despite the fact that this is only Mal Peet's second novel, he is a writer of exceptional quality, using a wide array of literary techniques like imagery and simile, to very great effect. The story is very visual, almost filmic in quality, and the judges felt that Peet really helps the reader to make connections between the past and the present, bringing history fully alive to today's readers through Tamar's contemporary voice.
