A Level Reform
With the first wave of linear A Levels commencing in September 2015, final grades in these subjects will be based on terminal assessment at the end of the second year. To support the transition into the new linear assessment system and ensure students are on track to achieve, Bournville has taken the decision, that Year 12 students who have chosen any of these subjects will undertake the AS qualification in the first year and move to the A Level course after the AS examination at the end of year 12. The AS grade in these new subjects will be a qualification in its own right, but will not form part of the final grade as is the case for all other subjects which are yet to reform.
Students entered for subjects which are yet to reform will also sit the AS which is worth 50% of the overall final grade before moving to A2.
